Paw-ty Time! How To Throw a Puppy Party

How To Throw a Dog Party

Some might find it extra, but us puppy pawrents find it necessary.

Welcome to this week’s edition of “I am Obsessed With My Dog and Will Do Anything To Make Them Happy.” Maybe you have always thought of throwing your dog a party or maybe this is the first you’ve seen such a thing. Either way, you came here for a reason and that reason is that you need to celebrate your sweet furbaby!

So, how does one actually throw a puppy paw-ty? It’s actually quite simple if you have thrown parties before. All the things you do for your hooman counterparts, you can do the same for the doggo-version! Are you ready to throw the most paw-some paw-ty of the year? Let’s sniff around for next steps.

How To Throw a Party for Your Dog

Establish a Theme

Sometimes a theme comes as naturally as a name. In this instance, my pup’s name is Hollywood - so her theme just created itself! Not to mention, it is totally on point for her. But even if you can’t come up with a theme with a name association, you can totally use another theme! Use underwater, gala, Hollywood (it’s for anyone!), luau, or anything you may have used for a person party! Swing by your local dollar store for decorations and plates for cake. OOooHHHhh did someone say CAKE?!

Make Sure Your Cake is On-Brand

If your cake doesn’t match the theme of your paw-ty and fits your brand, what’s even the point?! For this diva girl, we picked hot pink with LOTS of frills because she is ~extra~. Maybe your doggo would be happy with just a pupcake or maybe a chicken nugget cake, instead. Either way, you can call up your local pet bakery or store to see what dog-friendly paw-ty treats they have to serve to all their friends. If you’re a creative parent (I am not), you can even look up dog-friendly cake recipes on Pinterest and make it yourself.

Invite All of Your Bestest Furends!

What’s a party without all of your furiest friends! Be sure that you invite alllll of your best friends and make sure their parents are okay with them going out on a school night. And even though your dog might love the camera, make sure to share the limelight and dress up their guests for some adorable photo ops that we can post and ogle at all day long. And there is really nothing cuter than a bunch of dogs that are gathered for a party, eating cake, and having a ball!

Know When You’ve Paw-tyed Too Much

Hey, it happens to the best of us! Whether you are the one throwing the party or going to a party, make sure you are taking note of when your doggo is done partying for the day. They may drink too much Puppy IPA or eat too much cake so their energy might be low. Nevertheless, make sure you get tons of fun pics and videos before this happens to look back on for years to come. Maybe you can even use them for a blog post one day to help others have an amazing puppy paw-ty of their own!
